My name is Leon Day
I am an Integrative Counsellor based in Lowestoft, Suffolk, offering face-to-face or online Therapy for adults.
Since 2010, I've been part of the NHS, serving as a Mental Health Nurse in diverse settings.
In 2021, I embarked on a new path, focusing on my development as an Integrative Counsellor, completing my training at Waverley Abbey College and becoming a member of the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC).
I have an enhanced DBS, and I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). I am committed to providing a professional service while keeping your information safe and secure.
My fundamental belief is in the uniqueness of every client. My primary objective is to foster a secure, confidential environment where individuals can freely express themselves, assess their circumstances, and explore their choices. Throughout this process, my clients are valued, empowered, and supported as they move forward.
As an Integrative Counsellor, I customise each session according to the specific needs of the individual. I draw from many therapeutic models, including Person-Centred, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Trauma-Informed approaches. Additionally, I incorporate creative interventions and Psychoeducation, as appropriate, to enrich the counselling experience.
I bring experience in assisting individuals who have confronted alcohol and substance issues, ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma and grief.
Moreover, I have a special interest in addressing spiritual matters, exploring with you how we ascribe meaning to our lives and the influence of our beliefs on the challenges we encounter.
Also, I'm here to help individuals who may feel that life has not unfolded in the way they initially envisioned.
I offer the flexibility of short-term or long-term therapy, conducted either in person in my counselling room or through online sessions. Each session is designed to span between 50 and 60 minutes.
First Session
In your initial session, we will gently delve into your difficulties to develop a shared understanding of the factors contributing to and sustaining your problem. We will discuss the number of sessions you may need. I may ask you to complete some questionnaires to help us track your progress.
Therapy
We will meet regularly, typically once a week. Initially, the focus will be on understanding your current struggles and their impact on your life. I will also inquire about your early life, as this can provide insight into present challenges. Once we have a clear understanding of your difficulties, we will identify specific goals for treatment to keep our sessions focused. Together, we will work as a team to make the necessary changes to achieve your goals. I will utilise my clinical skills and various therapeutic approaches to help you consider different perspectives on your problem. My aim is to help you build emotional resilience, develop internal resources, and learn new skills to maintain the positive changes you desire.
Commencing therapy is a significant decision, often accompanied by confusion regarding the various therapeutic approaches available and which one aligns best with your needs.
Research has consistently demonstrated that, while the specific therapeutic approach holds importance, the most critical factor influencing the effectiveness of therapy is the quality of the relationship between the client and the therapist.
To help you make an informed decision, I'm pleased to offer a complimentary consultation. This allows you to inquire about me and my therapeutic approach, helping you determine whether I am the right therapist for you and how I may be able to help you.
If you'd like to arrange your consultation, please don't hesitate to reach out by completing the inquiry form below.
Your path to therapy is just a step away.
